Obama keeping Bernanke at Fed
Praising him as the man who shepherded the United States past the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, President Barack Obama on Tuesday announced plans to keep Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke in his job for another term.
Some economists and industrialists maintained optimism over the sustained recovery of Taiwan economy in spite of the shadow cast by the global H1N1 new flu epidemic and the unexpected extensive damage inflicted by Typhoon Morakot and the ensuing floods.

Greenpeace, EAST call for gov't to help cut Pacific tuna catch by 50%
Greenpeace and local group Environment and Animal Society of Taiwan (EAST) raised yesterday the problem of overfishing in the Pacific. They urged the government to act together with the global community to cut the Pacific tuna catch by 50%.

The global economy may be bottoming out from the worst recession of his lifetime but we should be prepared for a protracted and sluggish recovery, according to Professor Norbert Walter, Chief Economist of the Deutsche Bank Group.
